This Privacy Policy explains how JKB Ventures LLC (“JKB Ventures,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the Matrix iPhone application, matrixhealth.app, and related support services (collectively, “Matrix”). It also explains the choices and rights available to you.
1. Scope and controller
JKB Ventures LLC owns and operates Matrix and is responsible for personal information processed under this Policy. Matrix is a consumer application for adults. It is separate from any other Matrix-branded business product or service. This Policy does not apply to third-party products, websites, or services that have their own policies.
2. Information we collect
The information we process depends on the features you use and the permissions you choose:
- Account information: name, email address, account and authentication identifiers, consent records, and account settings.
- Information you enter: goals, routines, protocols, schedules, amounts, notes, nutrition, workouts, weight, symptoms, side effects, progress entries, and other records you choose to create.
- Files and media: lab reports, meal photos, progress photos, and other files you choose to select or upload when a feature supports them.
- Apple Health information: categories you separately authorize, which may include steps, sleep, resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, active energy, body weight, and workouts. Matrix requests read access only and does not write to Apple Health.
- AI feature information: prompts, responses, feedback, safety events, and the Matrix records you choose to make available to an AI-assisted feature such as Ava.
- Subscription information: product and entitlement status, purchase validation, renewal, expiration, refund, revocation, and introductory-offer eligibility supplied through Apple. We do not receive your complete payment-card number.
- Support and privacy communications: messages, attachments, request details, verification information, and our responses.
- Technical information: app and operating-system version, device or installation identifiers where used, IP address, request timestamps, crash and diagnostic information, security events, and interactions needed to operate and protect Matrix.
3. How we collect information
We receive information directly from you, from your device, from Apple when you authorize Apple Health or use an Apple purchase, and from service providers supporting Matrix. We do not obtain Apple Health information unless you grant the relevant Apple permission.
4. How we use information
We use information to provide, personalize, maintain, secure, and improve Matrix; display and organize your records; perform calculations using values you enter; provide optional AI-assisted educational features; verify subscription access; respond to support and privacy requests; prevent fraud and abuse; diagnose errors; comply with law; and protect users, Matrix, and JKB Ventures LLC.
We do not use Apple Health information for advertising. We do not use sensitive health information to determine eligibility for employment, credit, insurance, housing, or similar decisions.
5. Apple Health
Apple Health access is optional, category-specific, and controlled through Apple’s permission system. Matrix requests read access only. You may allow or decline each category and later change permissions in Apple Health settings. Declining Apple Health access does not prevent use of core manual-tracking features.
Revoking permission stops future access by Matrix but does not automatically delete information previously stored in Matrix. To delete stored Matrix data, use the account-deletion process or contact us. We do not sell Apple Health information, use it for advertising, or disclose it to data brokers.
6. AI-assisted features
When you choose to use an AI-assisted feature, Matrix may send your prompt and the information you select to service providers that process the request for us. AI output may be inaccurate or incomplete and is provided for educational and organizational purposes only. It is not medical advice. We do not permit our providers to use Matrix health information to advertise to you. Available controls and disclosures are presented in the app where required.
7. How we disclose information
We may disclose information:
- to service providers that support authentication, hosting, databases, storage, AI processing, subscriptions, diagnostics, security, and customer support, subject to appropriate contractual restrictions;
- to Apple when necessary to provide Apple Health, Sign in with Apple, App Store, StoreKit, or subscription functionality;
- when you direct us to disclose information or use a connected service;
- to comply with law, legal process, or valid government requests;
- to protect rights, safety, security, and the integrity of Matrix; and
- in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law and continued protection of personal information.
Depending on the features available in your version, service providers may include Apple, Supabase, Railway, OpenAI, Cloudflare, and OpenAI Sites. Providers process information under their own contractual and security obligations and only for the functions we enable.
8. Sale, sharing, and advertising
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising and do not use Apple Health information for marketing or advertising. If our practices change in a way that creates a legal right to opt out, we will provide the required notice and control before that change takes effect.
9. Data retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Matrix, maintain security and integrity, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, comply with legal obligations, and honor your choices. Retention depends on the type of information, why it was collected, sensitivity, legal requirements, and whether it can be deleted or deidentified.
Account content is generally retained while your account is active. When you delete your account, covered information is deleted or deidentified from active systems, subject to reasonable processing time, backup cycles, fraud-prevention needs, transaction and accounting records, legal holds, and other lawful exceptions. On-device information remains under your control and may also be removed by deleting it in Matrix or removing the app.
10. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls, authentication, encrypted transmission, protected device storage where supported, service-provider review, and security monitoring. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Your choices and rights
You may update information in Matrix, manage Apple Health permissions in Apple settings, manage subscriptions through Apple, and choose whether to use optional features. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, export, delete, restrict, or object to processing; withdraw consent; or appeal a denied privacy request.
Use the in-app controls where available or email privacy@matrixhealth.app. We may verify your identity and an authorized agent’s authority before completing a request. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. More information is available on our Privacy Choices & Deletion page.
12. Account deletion
You may request deletion from Matrix account settings when available or by emailing privacy@matrixhealth.app. Deleting a Matrix account does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription; subscriptions must be managed separately through Apple. We may retain limited information when required for security, fraud prevention, transactions, disputes, or legal compliance.
13. Children
Matrix is intended only for people 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a person under 18 has provided information to Matrix, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
14. International processing
JKB Ventures LLC is based in the United States. Information may be processed in the United States and other locations where our service providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
15. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy as Matrix, our providers, or applicable law changes. We will post the revised Policy with a new effective date and provide additional notice or obtain consent when required.
